AWhere, Inc. and the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) Partner on Climate Change Platform

Partnership has adopted AWhere data mashup and mapping software as its platform for climate change adaptation and decision-making.

Golden, Colo., June 21, 2007 -

The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) has adopted AWhere, Inc.’s (AWI) geovisual business intelligence software to facilitate the use of climate information in making decisions concerning adaptation to future climate change.

The SEI is leading a consortium to develop a common platform for supporting adaptation decision making. An essential component of the collaboration is to understand present climate resources and risks, and how they will change in the future. AWhere ™ software provides a user-friendly platform to support vulnerability assessment, risk mapping and climate adaptation planning. Discussions of this platform were first held in November 2006 at the International Climate Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, where the software was demonstrated to the participants. AWhere provides analysts and decision makers with up-to-date information on vulnerability to climate change and tools for screening adaptation options.

"Sharing good information is often the constraint," says Dr. Tom Downing, Director of the UK office of SEI. "The AWhere solution of a 'user community' easily sharing information, getting updated climate envelopes as they are available, and visualizing future conditions through graphics, maps and interpretations is instrumental to a professional approach to climate adaptation. The partnership between an open-source community and commercial specialists in knowledge management has benefits for all concerned."

"AWhere is proud to be part of this exciting partnership," says AWhere's CEO, John D. Corbett, Ph.D., "and to have this opportunity to strengthen our commitments to international development and environmental planning."

About AWhere, Inc.

Based in Golden, Colorado and formerly known as Mud Springs Geographers Incorporated (MSGI) it was founded in 1999. While working with clients, Mud Springs developed AWhere to help them deliver their consulting services and at the same time fill the needs of their broad range of clients, who were not GIS (Geographical Information Systems) professionals. AWI was formed in 2007 to commercialize the software.
