This training reviewed the Dev aWhere modules, and introduced participants to new climate datasets available in the Dev aWhere library, offered as complementary data resources to their ongoing research. Courtney also introduced case studies and other professional service tools made available by pulling weather data from aWhere’s API and creating visuals in R Studio. Using these tools and visuals as examples, Courtney continually challenged the students to consider how aWhere might add value into various aspects of their individual research projects.
Courtney and Rhiannan also conducted one on one meetings with each of the MUCCRI graduate students to help them navigate and leverage additional datasets available in the library, as well as other resources that complement their research. They also helped students identify data gaps and next steps for each project. aWhere will provide the students with additional training, best practices and recommendations to help them optimize primary and secondary data throughout their research.
The feedback received from the training was positive and enthusiastic. Here are just a few quotes from training participants:
“I found the training useful, the trainers were very good at explaining how the aWhere Platform works. I will use the platform in my daily research work.”
“This was an exciting opportunity for me. The training was very interesting, well done!”
